About the role
Job Purpose and Duties
- Reporting to the Controller, the Cost Accountant provides financial and analytical support to the plant management. The successful candidate will ensure data integrity of the plant’s production and financial reporting in accordance with established corporate standards and requirements and will also play a key role in cost forecasting, controls and the development and continuous improvement of financial procedures and processes in both the Finance and Operations functions.
- This is a fixed term contract role due to a temporary vacancy.
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting or Finance
- Certified Professional Accounting Designation, or nearing completion
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 4 or more years of related experience
- Experience with the standard costing process
- Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
- Excellent problem-solving ability, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
- Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Knowledge JDE system preferred
