About the role
About the Job:
Reporting to the Community Development Manager, the Wellness Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting adults at two Brampton sites and the broader SHIP community. Key responsibilities include promoting overall wellness, developing and facilitating programs that maximize client well-being, increased social engagement, and enhancing existing partnerships and creating new ones.
The Wellness Coordinator will also focus on building SHIP’s capacity and strengths to better serve the broader community, with a focus on older adults at these locations and the surrounding community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, promote, and sustain community workshops, events, programs, and activities through internal resources and in collaboration with external partners
- Collect, analyze, and compile data on programming gathered through client consultation with the goal of supporting improved quality of life
- Support programming through in-kind donor engagement and grant applications
- Meet program key performance indicators as well as targets outlined by the funder
- Coordinate projects including planning, budgets, etc.
- Promote wellness and self-management within the Hansen and Nance Horwood Place communities
- Develop new and exciting strategic partnerships
- Chair tenant steering committee and Town Halls
- Recruit, train and support student and community volunteers
- Write grants to support activities and programming
- Perform additional duties as required within their team
- Ensure appropriate records are kept and make sure that statistical information is maintained as per agency standards
- Adherence to agency Health & Safety Program and the Client Safety Framework in the promotion of client safety
- Perform additional duties as required/delegated by Management
Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in project planning and/or working in the mental health field
- Experience working with older adults as asset
- Excellent proven relationships with internal and external partners
- Post-Secondary education in Health Promotion, Community Development, or equivalent
- Effective decision-making skills and the ability to assess a comprehensive range of variables to be able to interpret analyze and solve problems
- Leadership and a collaborative approach is critical to this position
- Ability to advocate on behalf of clients and is comfortable with the self-help role
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi service team
- Excellent time management, communication, people management, etc.
- Able to work with minimal direction or supervision
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.)
- Must be certified in CPI, CPR and First Aid
- A valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license and a vehicle with adequate insurance coverage
Reporting Function:
The Wellness Coordinator will report directly to the Community Development Manager. They will work with both internal and external customers and will interact with all levels within the organization. They will be a support system, resource, and an advocator for the team and Organization.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Day shift (Monday – Friday) with the ability to work additional/overtime hours as required during the week and on weekends
- Able to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Able to answer and communicate telephone calls and general computer us
- Able to lift up to 20lbs (product, documents, etc.)
- Vehicle travel to sites supporting event planning, community engagement, client support
