About the role
The Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs in partnership with the Bonnyville Minor Hockey Association are pleased to be accepting resumes for a full time position that will see the successful candidate become an Assistant Coach with the Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs and the Head Coach of the Bonnyville Yaks U13AAA program.
The Pontiacs are seeking an individual with passion for the game to work and learn under our coaching staff while being able to guide and mold their own organization making this a dynamic role for coach development. This role will also look to grow our partnership with BMHA and lead into a mentor role for the organization.
Jr A Pontiacs Assistant Coach Responsibilities
Take a lead role and assist in the following:
- Assistant Coach will be available for 95-100 percent of the practices and take the LEAD Role in skill Development with extensive player work during the week.
- Skills Coaching and Skill Development is considered an asset.
- Be available for all practices and games schedule permitting.
- Off-ice training.
- Player development.
- Video review and editing.
- Pre-Scout opposition.
- All on and off ice team structure.
- Implement a strong positive culture that will continue to grow the Pontiacs reputation in a positive manner.
- Work with the Head Coach and staff to ensure the team is aligned and striving for success of the entire organization.
- Foster a positive, supportive learning atmosphere for every player.
- Community involvement of the players and staff year-round.
- Work alongside the Pontiacs to recruit and maintain billets.
- Assist in all areas of team functions and business operations.
- Managing and working with all staff, fans, and patrons of the organization.
- Ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization.
- Organization of all summer, ID, and selection camps.
- Help with player promotions to higher levels.
- Assist in other miscellaneous duties and tasks.
U13 AAA Coach Responsibilities

Plan and execute all hockey operations for the team.

Creation of a development plan for the season which includes an estimated 40 games and 3 practice times weekly.

Off Ice Training.

Game preparation.

Player development.

Bench Management.

Pre-Scout opposition.

All on and off ice team structure.

Working with and setting expectations for assistant and training staff.

Implement a strong positive culture that will continue to grow the reputation in a positive manner.

Work with the Vp of Ops to ensure the team is aligned and striving for success of the entire organization.

Foster a positive, supportive learning atmosphere for every player.

Implementing a code of conduct for all players.

Recruiting and Player Identification.

Assist in all areas of team functions and business operations.

Managing and working with all staff, fans, and patrons of the organization.

Assist in team schedules, busing, meals, and accommodations.

Assist in establishing a strong bond and rapport with all local area minor hockey players and coaches.

Ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization.

Organization of all summer, ID, and selection camps.

Establish a positive safe working environment for everyone involved.

Help in player promotions to other levels.

Assist in other miscellaneous duties and tasks.

Mentorship for all Elite Streams within BMHA.
This position requires you to be located in the Bonnyville area.
A minimum level of Hockey Alberta Coach Development 1 is required.
Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
