As a Process Automation Specialist, you will deliver digital workflow and automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and service reliability. You will translate business needs into streamlined, technology-enabled processes by analyzing current workflows, identifying automation opportunities, and designing improved future-state processes. You will also develop, test, deploy, and sustain automated workflows, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, and aligned to business requirements and City governance. Primary duties include:
- Facilitate discovery sessions, interviews, workshops to elicit business needs, pain points, and constraints in current processes.
- Prepare solution options and recommend user interface and automation approaches that balance risk, complexity, and time-to-value.
- Map current-state processes and design future-state workflows, identifying automation opportunities and ensuring automation enables the delivery of project objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Develop and deploy automation, performing enhancements and lifecycle maintenance to sustain reliability and adoption.
- Identify data inputs and outputs for automations, defining and tracking operational metrics to verify realization and inform iteration.
- Prepare and deliver demos and quick reference guides on created solutions.
Qualifications
- A completed 2-year diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field and at least 5 years of experience; OR
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field and at least 3 years of experience.
- Experience must include designing, building, and sustaining process automations and digital workflows using Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate (cloud and desktop flows).
- Must have experience using Microsoft Visio, Excel, Power BI, SharePoint.
- Experience with Maximo will be considered an asset.
- The successful applicant will demonstrate skills in collaboration, problem solving, attention to detail, planning and organizing, and communication.

Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Union: CUPE Local 38
Position Type: 1 Temporary (up to 18 months)
Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $44.01 - 58.82 per hour
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
