About the role:
At Compass ELC, you will work as a Cook alongside some of the most passionate, caring, and dedicated educators in the industry. You will spend your time planning, prepping, and cooking nutritious and delicious meals and snacks, following the Canada Food Guide, the Ministry of Education, and Compass Early Learning and Care policies and guidelines. You will model and grow a perspective of equity and strive for a deeper understanding of cultural awareness.
This role will work 8 to 40 hours per week at our Campbellford location with the possibility of travelling to other CELC locations based on program needs. Hours will be created based on the needs of the program and the applicants' availability. Hours will fluctuate between 7 am and 6 pm from Monday to Friday.
Some accountabilities associated with the role include:

Planning, prepping, and cooking nutritious and delicious meals and snacks.

Collaborating with a dedicated and passionate team of nutrition specialists.

Preparing menus and food with consideration to children’s food allergies and sensitivities

Drafting and preparing seasonal menus in consideration of the Canada Food Guide, Ministry of Education, and Compass ELC policies and guidelines.

Building and maintaining relationships with families and including them in the learning process.

Building and maintaining relationships with staff, volunteers, students, and community partners.

Working as part of a team with Co-workers, Families, Community Partners, and Children.

Ensuring the safety of staff and children by learning and acknowledging all children’s diverse needs and backgrounds, and creating equitable opportunities for all children to engage.

Demonstrating respect for spaces by ensuring the safety and cleanliness of all equipment, dishes, furniture, and materials.

Cooking and baking nutritious snacks for our School Age Teams

Coordinating and creating a schedule with the nutrition team.

Being available to travel to all CELC programs.
Skills and Qualifications:
Requirements:
- 1-3 years’ experience working/volunteering with children and youth. (Preferred)
- 1 - 3 years of experience preparing and cooking food for large groups of people (Required)
- Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards. (Preferred)
- Valid certifications include a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records. (Required)
- Valid Food Handler's Certificate (Required)
- Post Secondary Schooling in food, nutrition, or culinary. (Preferred)
