Position Summary
We are seeking a Curriculum Innovation Lead to serve
as the vital "bridge" connecting division leadership, school
administration, and our classroom teachers. Your primary goal in this role will
be to maximize the impact of curriculum funding. You will achieve this by
leading cross-site collaboration, supporting evidence-based projects, and
utilizing data to measure the resulting student achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Building, Collaboration, Support and
Coherence
- Facilitate Cross-Site
Collaboration:
Actively identify schools or grade teams with similar inquiry questions
and connect them to form professional learning cohorts.
- Establish High-Fidelity
Collaborative Inquiry:
Work directly with teacher teams to support a robust
collaborative model. This involves facilitating opportunities for teachers to
observe their colleagues' instruction.
- Facilitate Expert
Connections:
Connect school teams with research, internal and external experts, or
professional texts (such as Building Thinking Classrooms) to ensure projects
are grounded in evidence-based pedagogy.
- Ensure Strategic Alignment
& System Coherence:
Advance system-wide instructional coherence in literacy,
numeracy, and assessment to maintain pedagogical consistency across schools.
- Proposal & Implementation Support
- Refine Proposal Design: Collaborate directly with
cohorts to structure project proposals aimed at improving professional
practice.
- Provide Project Coaching: Offer ongoing support to
cohorts, which includes providing support to develop collaborative practice
that results in changing practice in classrooms.
- Accountability & Data Collection
- Lead Data Tracking: Implement a robust process
that tracks qualitative and quantitative data throughout the entire project
cycle. Support cohorts to collect baseline data before starting, and help them
analyze results during the project.
- Conduct Regular Check-Ins: Conduct scheduled check-ins
with every cohort to ensure continued focus on the proposal goal/outcome.
- Ensure Budget Fidelity: Track funding to ensure it
is spent on high quality professional learning.
- Central Resource Management: Establish and manage a
centralized bank that will house, organize, and maintain access to shared
resources for all division staff.
Experience & Qualifications:
Alberta
Teaching Certificate;
Previous
experience teaching a variety of grade levels and subjects
- Successful Criminal Reference Check, including
vulnerable sectors (within 3 months of contract start date)

About Palliser School Division
The Palliser Regional Schools is a school jurisdiction located in southern Alberta. The geographical area stretches from just south of Lethbridge to the Bow River south of Calgary. Palliser Centre houses the Central Office Administration, Maintenance and Transportation Services and is located in the City of Lethbridge. In addition, a satellite Maintenance Shop has been set up in the Town of Vulcan. The division offers full public education services to approximately 8,1000 students from early childhood services through Grade 12. Palliser has 15 community schools, 17 Hutterian colony schools, 10 Christian alternative schools, nine of which are in Calgary on seven different campuses, four outreach programs, an online school, and two dedicated Low German Mennonite alternative programs. One of our outreach schools and a junior high in one of our community schools also serve the LGM community.
