PHARMACY TECHNICIAN DIPLOMA PROGRAM

Reporting to the Program Chair, or designate, an instructor carries out a range of activities that fall under a variety of categories: Course preparation, Course delivery, Supporting student success, Curriculum work, Professionalism, Professional Development, and College Service.

Instructors are responsible for delivering high quality instruction in the courses that they have been assigned, fostering a positive learning environment, contributing to the academic success of students and a collaborative teaching team. Instructors are expected to demonstrate NorQuest Qs in their daily work.

Instructors may be required to teach during the day, evening or weekend depending on the teaching assignment. Delivery of content may be in-person, online, or Hy-flex. Instructors may be required to provide lab, theory and clinical coverage as required to meet operational needs.

Travel is required for clinical/practicum instruction.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

• Facilitate student learning online, in class, and laboratory settings.
• Assess, monitor, and evaluate student performance and progress.
• Assist students to improve practical skills.
• Prepare and facilitate laboratory activities.
• Deliver lab and theory courses and maintain student records.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Current and active licensure with the Alberta College of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Registered Pharmacist in good standing is required.
• Pharmacy Technician diploma from an accredited program and a completed degree in a related health or education area or actively pursuing the same, OR Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy OR Pharm D
• At least two years of full-time practice experience or the equivalent in part-time experience in a pharmacy setting.
• Active involvement to maintain currency of skills in actual practice settings as required for program accreditation by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience working on Moodle or willingness to learn this learning management system.
• A solid understanding of and appreciation for the pharmacy technician profession.
• Proficiency with Kroll software is an asset.
• Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary environment and course work in adult education, with evidence of student-centered teaching excellence, is an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.

Compensation: PHRM 1012 is a 6 credit course that is compensated at a course casual rate per credit. An additional 11.2% is paid in lieu of benefits and vacation. This role falls under the NorQuest College Faculty Association. Please reference the NorQuest College Collective Agreement Appendix A to better understand how pay is determined.
