Job Details:
Position Title**:** Lab Simulation Facilitator
Status: Support Project of Non-Recurring Kind (3 Positions)
Duration: Two (2) Weeks
Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: Min. $35.91 – Max. $41.62

About the Lab Simulation Facilitator Role:
The incumbent supports and collaborates with faculty within the laboratory and simulation environment to promote student learning, engagement, safety, and competency development. The role involves preparing and facilitating simulation activities, supporting skills practice, and assisting with the assessment of student competencies in alignment with established program learning outcomes and competency frameworks.
What will you do:
- Supporting MLA and MLT faculty, staff and students with the use of laboratory equipment and/or procedures, protocols and practices.
- Collaborate with professors and instructional staff to support laboratory and simulation based learning activities
- Prepare, set up, and maintain simulation and laboratory materials, equipment, and environments prior to scheduled sessions
- Assist with the observation and assessment of student competencies using approved evaluation tools and criteria
- Provide students with guidance and clarification during skills practice
- Ensure all laboratory and simulation activities adhere to safety, infection prevention, and institutional policies
- Perform post lab and post simulation clean up, equipment reset, and restocking of supplies
- Assist with general laboratory maintenance and support documentation as required
- Ensuring safe storage and handling of chemicals and biohazardous waste is essential. Maintaining a system of collecting and disposing of all biohazard waste is required.
- Contributing to and supporting the ongoing development of laboratory exercises, procedures, and manuals.
- Collaborating with the Program Manager, Faculty and Associate Dean (where and when applicable) to recommend and integrate innovative tools, instrumentation, technologies and/or software for use within the lab.

Education
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of an Advanced Diploma and certification with CSMLS or MLPAO.
Experience
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an MLA or MLT in a medical laboratory setting.
