Journeyman Electrician

The Journeyman Electrician interprets drawings, sketches and specifications to produce or repair various parts and equipment, as well as undertakes the set-up and general maintenance of electrical systems. The Journeyman Electrician uses various equipment, machinery and hand tool to achieve the final product.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan layout and illustration of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
• Perform on-site service calls to support our equipment at customer facilities both local and out of town
• Read and Interpret drawings, blueprints, and schematics for electrical equipment
• Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, to ensure compliance with codes
• Troubleshoot equipment
• Mentor Apprentice Electricians
• Perform cable pulling and wire installations and terminations
• Perform routine housekeeping duties on site and service truck for cleanup/maintenance
• Keep an accurate account for project assembly hours and materials

Qualifications

• Journeyman certification or Red Seal
• Industrial and commercial experience is an asset
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract
• Strong interpersonal skills
• AWP experience (Preferred)
• Overhead crane experience (Preferred)
• Forklift, Manlift and Scissor lift experience
