DISTRICT COMPUTER SUPPORT WORKER - SUMMER CASUAL
About the role
There are two positions available for District Computer Support Workers.
Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, April 27, 2026. Please note these positions are only available until August 31, 2026. **
Reporting to the IT Manager, this position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of computer equipment throughout the school district.
Hours of work: (8) hrs per day, five (5) days per week
Duties to Commence: June 1, 2026 until August 31, 2026
Work Year Base: Twelve (12) months per year
Commencing Salary:** $25.53-$29.15 - Based on Education and Experience
Duties:
- Repair and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and other associated computer equipment by:
- following work orders assigned by the supervisor(s).
- responding to emergency telephone calls in order to ensure that school district computers and equipment are running smoothly.
- Provides assistance to solve problems and determine whether or not computer equipment should be sent in for repair.
- Ensures computer related incidents that occur beyond their skill set are referred appropriately.
- Organizes the workday according to the supervisor(s) direction by location, priority, and work site availability (contacts other trades and district staff to ensure the work site is ready).
- Monitors and replenishes supplies as needed.
- Ensures tools, equipment and assigned vehicles are in good working order (for example, pre-trip vehicle inspections).
- Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the work site is safe and secure, that vehicles and equipment are operated according to set standards.
- Ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials (W.H.M.I.S.) and the safe use and operation of equipment and hand tools.
- Informs the supervisor(s) or administrator of vandalized, lost, or stolen equipment.
- Perform recycling duties in accordance with department and local depot(s) guidelines.
- Performs other job related duties as directed.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Grade 12 or equivalency
- A two-year Computer related diploma from a recognized technical school or equivalency
- 2 years recent (within 5 years) experience in computer equipment repair
- Shows basic knowledge of network troubleshooting, on both wired and wireless networks
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Acceptable Drivers Abstract
- Ability to manage difficult conversations in a professional manner
- Must be well organized
- Ability to work independently and set priorities
- WHMIS Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
- Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to staring employment
