Job Information
The Tlicho Community Services Agency (TCSA) is seeking a Facilities/Maintenance Worker to support the day-to-day operational maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the Health Center.
Under the direction of the Nurse in Charge (NIC), the incumbent is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment for staff, clients, and visitors. This position plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of health services by ensuring facilities, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in proper working order and in compliance with health, safety, and infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete janitorial services and general building maintenance to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained Health Center environment
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe and proper operation
- Support infection control, occupational health, and safety practices in accordance with TCSA policies and procedures
- Identify and report maintenance or safety issues to the Nurse in Charge in a timely manner
- Perform minor repairs and coordinate maintenance activities as required
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Nurse in Charge
Key Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- One (1) to two (2) years of housekeeping and/or janitorial experience in a similar facility
- Relevant training in Infection Control and/or Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Fluency in the Tlicho language is required
Equivalencies
- Three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar facility combined with Grade 11 and fluency in the Tlicho language may be considered
- Four (4) years of relevant experience in a similar facility combined with Grade 10 and fluency in the Tlicho language may be considered
- All other equivalencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily within a health center and associated facilities
- Requires physical effort, including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and operating cleaning and maintenance equipment
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and biohazard materials in accordance with infection control protocols
- May involve working indoors and outdoors, including in varying weather conditions
- Occasional work outside of regular hours may be required to address urgent maintenance or safety issues
