About the role
Title: Project Manager
Location: Calgary, AB
H3M Environmental is a Western Canada–based consulting firm built on strong technical capability, collaboration, and trust. We provide environmental, archaeological, and regulatory services that support projects from planning and permitting through assessment, remediation, and reclamation. Our team of environmental professionals, biologists, archaeologists, and technicians works closely with clients across energy, infrastructure, forestry, utilities, renewables, and industrial sectors to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions that balance compliance, land stewardship, and project success.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to lead the delivery of environmental consulting projects through their full lifecycle. This role is accountable for project governance, scope, schedule, budget, client communication, and overall delivery, working closely with internal technical teams and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, client-focused, and experienced in managing consulting-style projects within regulated environments. An environmental technical background is not required; however, candidates must have a general understanding of environmental consulting projects and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams. Strong communication, financial oversight, and project control skills are essential.
This is a client-billable, delivery-focused role in a consulting environment that requires strong time management, organisation, and accountability.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Lead project planning and execution to deliver projects within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
-
Develop, manage, and track project budgets, forecasts, work-in-progress (WIP), and cost controls with input from technical staff.
-
Establish and maintain project systems, including file structures, project codes, dashboards, and delivery tools.
-
Serve as the primary client contact, providing clear, timely, and professional communication.
-
Coordinate and lead project kickoff meetings to align expectations, deliverables, and roles.
-
Maintain accurate project schedules, milestones, and resource plans aligned with project progress.
-
Complete required reporting and documentation within client portals and systems (SiteView, Matidor, or similar platforms).
-
Review and approve tickets, invoices, and project costs to ensure financial accuracy and project health.
-
Review team time entries to support utilization targets and accurate project financials.
-
Identify and manage project risks, issues, and constraints, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
-
Coordinate subcontractors, field teams, and procurement activities to support schedule, safety, and quality objectives.
-
Ensure project safety responsibilities are executed in coordination with field staff and Health & Safety leadership.
-
Review draft technical deliverables for completeness and alignment prior to senior technical sign-off.
-
Ensure project documentation is accurate, organized, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
-
Lead client submissions and deliverables in accordance with contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements.
-
Complete project closeout activities, including documentation archiving and lessons learned.

Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably within environmental, construction, or other regulated industrial environments.

-
Experience supporting projects within the Oil and Gas industry is considered an asset.

Demonstrated success in client-facing project delivery roles.
