Position: Elementary School Teacher

Basic Responsibilities:

Seeking an elementary teacher for a highly unique school in a rural setting in the South Okanagan. Senpaq'cin is a First Nations Authorized Primary Years Program (IB PYP) with the International Baccalaureate World School. The role of the IB-PYP teacher is to build and maintain a successful inquiry program centered around our local First Nations culture and protocols.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Designing, preparing, implementing, reflecting, evaluating, and reporting learning experiences that align with BC curriculum and the IB PYP curriculum framework.
• Creating differentiated learning experiences to meet the learning needs of the students within the classroom environment.
• Providing opportunity for student-initiated action from deep exploration of inquiry lessons.
• Collaborating with other teachers to share new ideas, approaches and professional knowledge.
• Communicating accurately, regularly and meaningfully with families of students.
• Contributing to the extracurricular programs offered within the school environment.
• Collaborating with the Okanagan Language Team to integrate First Nations language and culture into the program of inquiry and daily instructional practice where applicable.
• Willingness to understand implement trauma informed strategies to support the emotional health of the student population.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• BC Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate
• PYP training or experience is an asset
• Experience working within a First Nation school or organization
• Willingness to learn the Okanagan Language alongside the students
• Valid Driver's License

Start Date: August 24, 2026

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 3:30 pm
