The typical salary range for this position is $78 880.00 - $108 460.00 annually. The base salary offered will be determined based on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity considerations.

SUMMARY:
The Manager, HR & LR works collaboratatively as the business partner for a designated group of stores in the Ottawa region. This position is responsible for developing the negotiation mandate for the single store collective agreements and the Ottawa Distribution Centres as per the Corporate Orientations and Objectives, obtain proper internal approvals, and negotiate a new collective agreement with the Unions. The Manager will also be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Ottawa HR team.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the business partner to coach and advise store operations in their dealings with employees and the union representatives
- Lead collective agreement negotiations and ensure timely settlements in alignment with Company guidelines for retail stores and Ottawa Distribution Centres
- Advise store operations on collective agreement administration and interpretation, including seniority rights, promotion, discipline, etc. Support management with grievance resolution and guide Counsel at arbitration hearings or other legal proceedings
- Investigate and resolve complaints (breaches of internal/external policies and laws)
- Support the District Manager with recruitment, performance management, succession planning and compensation/salary administration
- Participate in the development and delivery of training programs
- Participate in store capital plan activites. Conduct meetings with employees to understand impacts and review options.
- Support Health & Safety department with accommodation requirements, modified duties and return to work meetings
- Support Operations with attendance/absenteeism management
- Approve /coordinate transfers, demotions, promotions, layoffs, leaves of absence, salary approvals, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree
- 3 - 5 years related experience
- CHRL/CHRP designation is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Intermediate PC skills
- Excellent ability in time management, coaching, teamwork, and a high degree of professionalism.
- Frequent travel required
