About the role
Today we are confirming our search for a Property Accountant to support the accurate and timely financial reporting of a portfolio of our properties. This role is well suited for a recent accounting graduate who is eager to learn, take ownership of their work, and grow into a strong performer within a high-volume accounting environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior accountants and property management operations to ensure reliable financial reporting and day-to-day execution.
This is a hands-on role with exposure to core property accounting activities and opportunities to develop technical skills, business understanding, and professional judgement. In addition to the duties typically expected of an entry level accounting professional, responsibilities will include:
Property Accounting and Reporting
- Support the Accounting team in preparing quarterly, and annual financial statements for an assigned portfolio of properties.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments related to property operations, capital activity, and renovations.
- Prepare and complete bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations within established timelines.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and properly supported.
- Assist with variance analysis and preparation of basic financial summaries for property operations.
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules including property taxes, utilities, and other recurring items.
Property Operations Support
- Work closely with property management teams to respond to questions and resolve routine accounting issues.
- Support tracking and reporting of work order, maintenance, and renovation activity as required.
- Follow established accounting processes and controls consistently.
- Identify issues, errors, or inefficiencies and raise them with senior team members.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Use Yardi and other systems effectively, building confidence and efficiency over time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 0-3 years of accounting experience, gained through co-op placements, internships, or full-time post-graduate roles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with demonstrated experience using Excel to complete accounting tasks.
- Strong foundational full-cycle accounting knowledge and willingness to learn.
- High level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong work ethic with a hands-on, roll up your sleeves approach.
- Clear and professional communication skills.

The approximate salary range for this role is $50,000–$60,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, educational attainment, professional designations, internal equity, and other job-related requirements.
