Compensation: $18.00-$22.00 per hour + vacation pay
Reporting to: Director, Programs Administration & Facilities

You will be an important member of the team maintaining Windfields estate. Windfields is a designated heritage property. The estate features numerous gardens, two woodlots, hedgerows, and more than 200 specimen trees.
The Horticulturalist is responsible for employing best practices in the care of the property. This position offers a diverse range of hands-on responsibilities.
Responsibilities:

Inspecting gardens for insects, disease and overall health and communicate observations to Facilities staff

Garden and planter design including recommendations for transplanting, replacement or removal of plants

Planting, mulching, fertilizing and pruning as required

Watering and weeding as required

Maintaining the gardening tools

Updating the CFC’s Landscape and Garden plan, documenting with photos and text

Assisting the Arborist in accomplishing tasks and completing major projects

Performing other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
-
A passion for the environment
-
Ideally, enrolled in or has completed a Horticultural, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design or related program at the post-secondary level or has related experience

Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including bending, lifting, utilizing hand tools
