Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The hourly pay range for this position is $21.70 - $22.20. Individual pay within this range is determined by several compensable factors.

Join Our Team as a Costing Support Analyst (Summer Student)!

The Costing Support Analyst will support the Cost Accounting and Finance team with daily and recurring costing activities in a manufacturing environment. This role provides hands‑on exposure to standard costing, inventory analysis, variance tracking, and manufacturing finance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Costing
  • Assist with daily and weekly standard vs. actual cost reviews (materials, labour, overhead).
  • Support preparation of cost variance summaries for review by Cost Accounting.
  • Help validate cost inputs and investigate basic cost discrepancies using ERP data and Excel tools.
  • Maintain costing trackers and ensure timely updates to recurring reports.
• Inventory
  • Support inventory costing and valuation activities, including data validation and reconciliations.
  • Assist with inventory movement tracking (RM, WIP, FG) and prepare summary schedules.
  • Support cycle count and physical inventory preparation, including data collection and reconciliation assistance.
  • Review inventory reports for completeness and consistency before submission.
• Month-End Close
  • Assist with month‑end close activities, including data preparation for journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Maintain supporting schedules for cost‑related balance sheet accounts.
  • Help prepare recurring costing and operations reports used by Finance and Manufacturing teams.
• Process Improvement
  • Assist in improving costing templates and Excel tools for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform data checks, clean‑up, and validation to support reliable financial reporting.
  • Document recurring processes and maintain Finance working files in line with team standards.
  • Assist in documenting cost accounting–related internal controls

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related course
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivots, basic data analysis).
• Comfortable working with numeric data and repetitive tasks.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow structured processes.
• Willingness to learn manufacturing and cost accounting concepts.

Physical Effort:

Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 20lbs.

Work Environment:

Acceptable working environment with minor or almost no disagreeable or challenging working conditions as part of everyday expected levels (all jobs will occasionally experience undesirable or disagreeable events).
