Position Overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Children & Youth Services, Day Camp Counsellor, Sr. is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an eight-week summer camp program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in camp training & agency orientation.
- Assists in the development of the summer camp program plan.
- Ensure the safety & security of the camp.
- Lead in responding to critical situations.
- Provide guidance & support to camp counselors.
- Responsible for supervising children.
- Maintain professional relationship with peers, children & community members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of working with children & youth.
- Able to multi-task.
- Ability to accept supervision and seek counsel.
- Dependable, punctual and flexible.
- Second language an asset.
- Currently enrolled or recently completed a diploma, degree and/or other certificate in a post-secondary institution.
- Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
- Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
