Summary:
We are currently seeking to employ Summer Recreation Camp Counselors to assist with the delivery of our Summer Recreation Program. The Camp Counselors will collaborate with the Program Coordinators to create positive, safe, respectful, and inclusive environments for all program participants. The Camp Counselors will help facilitate daily programming, including psychoeducational activities, games, songs, crafts, swimming, and field trips. The incumbent will actively participate in all activities and demonstrate positive role modelling for all youth involved.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing positive, age appropriate, social, recreational, and educational daily activities for participants
- Assist in completing required daily paperwork, including Accident and Incident Report Forms
- Always maintain a clean and safe work environment, inclusive of completing daily inspections for hazards
- Report concerns to the designated Program Coordinator-recreation
- Perform daily cleaning duties at your site according to the Daily Site Checklist
- Assist with the planning and supervision of field trips
- Actively participate and lead daily activities as assigned.
- Assist with special projects in the community.
- Maintain an orderly program and follow proper discipline and behaviour modification techniques as needed and as directed
- Promote the program in assigned area
- Consistently maintain a positive work environment for self, staff, volunteers, participants, and community members
- Other duties as assigned
Min****imum Requirements:
- First Aid/CPR are considered an asset
- Enrolled in school
- Max. Age 29 years old (due to grant funding)
L****anguages:
- English – additional languages are considered an asset
S****ecurity and Safety:
- If 18 years of age or older, a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check must be completed prior to the first day of employment
