We are seeking a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Construction Officer to play a key role in shaping the Ministry's construction contract administration framework.

About the job
In this role, you will:
- Develop and update construction contract administration policies, procedures and standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including modernization and automation of contract administration processes.
- Provide expert technical advice and interpretation on complex construction contract issues to regional and provincial staff.
- Manage and coordinate policy and procedural projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables and quality standards are met.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners, including industry associations and other jurisdictions, to support consistent and effective contract administration practices.
What you bring to the team
Technical Expertise:
- You have knowledge of legislation, Ministry policies, standards and government priorities related to construction and contract administration.
- You understand highway construction methods, contract management practices and the roles of contractors, consultants and partner ministries.
- You are familiar with safety, legal, environmental and technical considerations affecting construction operations.
Policy and Analytical Skills
- You can assess complex construction and contract administration issues and recommend solutions that balance cost, durability, environmental impact, safety and resource constraints.
- You can interpret specifications, drawings and technical documentation to support policy development and issue resolution.
- You can identify systemic issues and develop evidence-based improvements.
Project Management and Organizational Skills
- You can plan, coordinate and lead concurrent projects, ensuring deliverables are met.
- You can provide leadership and direction to project teams and manage timelines, risks and stakeholder expectations.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- You can prepare clear, comprehensive reports, manuals, recommendations and presentations for diverse audiences.
- You have strong negotiation and persuasion skills to work with stakeholders who may hold differing viewpoints.
- You can build consensus and foster effective working relationships across internal and external partners.
Computer Skills
- You can use software and database applications to prepare reports, manage projects and analyze technical data.
