Job Summary
Under the direction of a designated supervisor, to perform building and equipment maintenance duties.
- Undertake assigned tasks in the general area of carpentry, electrical, plumbing and maintenance projects
- Carry out a prescribed inspection maintenance and repair program relating to buildings, mechanical and
- Electrical equipment and controls and lighting
- Assist where necessary in the cleaning of buildings and equipment, snow removal and related maintenance duties
- Operate a commercial vehicle under applicable legislative requirements as described in the City of Toronto Fleet Policy
- Assist with setups and clean-up of various library programs
- Move material and/or books as necessary
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have 5 years in a specific trade or construction industry and/or diploma from a building environmental systems course at a community college
- Physically capable of performing duties as described
- Ability to use ordinary tools and conduct mechanical repairs and adjustments
- Ability to perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other related maintenance and repair work
- Valid driver’s licence; experience in driving commercial equipment an asset
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees and to relate to the public with tact and courtesy
- Ability to follow instructions and to work in an independent manner.
