Junior School Teacher (2)
Permanent
Commencing August 31, 2026
For more than 155 years, The Bishop Strachan School has empowered talented girls to grow into fearless women, equipped with intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and compassion to navigate the world. We inspire our students to discover their purpose, build confidence, and express themselves with a strong, independent voice.
The Junior School (JK - Grade 6) is a place to explore, grow, discover, collaborate, create and have lots of fun. It is the first step in the lifetime adventure of learning. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, we see our students as individuals who are curious about the world around them and have the aptitude and intellect to learn. We use fundamental concepts from the Ontario curriculum to build a strong foundation in essential academic skills, such as math, literacy and research, while learning and discovering as a group.
We are looking for two Full-Time Permanent Junior School Teachers (Grades 1 to 6) who have experience and/or open to co-teaching, collaborative planning, documentation, and facilitating and assessing a challenging, dynamic program for young children. Our JS Teachers collaborate with specialists and lead teachers on an on-going basis to create challenging, inquiry-based learning experiences. In addition, you will be involved with co-curricular activities, including athletics. As a member of our professional learning community, you will embrace professional learning opportunities, attend faculty planning sessions and Junior School events, such as open houses, special events and other exhibitions of learning, with interest and enthusiasm.
Who You Are:
- Must have an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate
- Primary and Junior Divisions teaching qualification
- Experience working within early childhood education and young children
- A passion for aligning educational research with classroom practice
- Commitment to, and passion for, furthering the work of the school, the Reggio Emilia Approach, and girls’ education
- Commitment to participate as a collaborative member in all aspects of the primary/junior division, school and in school life
- Passion and desire to continually learn about the social emotional needs of young children and differentiated instruction and strategies
- A growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning
- Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness, as well as a readiness to accept and respect others
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment for your students, with families and your colleagues.
