POSITION DETAILS:
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.29 - $25.88
Schedule: 12-hour shifts
Location: Welland, Ontario

WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
The Terminal Operator works in a safe manner while performing product handling of finished goods (biodiesel, glycerin), raw material (soy or canola oil) and a variety of chemicals in an industrial work environment. The majority of product handling will be by way of tank railcar, tank truck, pallet and totes. It is the terminal operator’s responsibility to perform associated work as directed and/or supervision consistent with standard operating procedures and provincial and local regulations in a safe and timely manner. This position reports to the terminal manager.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Transfer of finished goods, raw material and chemical products to and from various storage tanks, including railcars and tank trucks
- Unloads dry products as well as chemical totes using a telehandler
- Safely prepare and communicate with train engineers for railcar shunting
- Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and returned to supervisor or Logistics Department
- Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives
- Adheres to Kosher practices
Responsibilities:
- Open and close valves, connect and disconnect hoses to allow for proper product transfer
- Controls/monitors an HMI (Human Machine Interface) and PLC (programmable logic controller) for loading and unloading
- Performs daily walk-around inspections of the liquid handling equipment over entire facility
- Spill prevention and spill clean-up
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Telehandler or lift experience preferred
- Familiar and knowledgeable in Transportation of Dangerous Goods an asset
- Experience working in an industrial environment, specifically a loading/unloading terminal is an asset
- Experience with handling hazardous liquid chemicals preferred
- The ability to work from written and oral instructions
- Strong work ethic and dependability
- Working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft office applications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must wear and maintain company required Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to: FR pants/ long-sleeve shirt, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
- Physically able to perform the following job essential functions, inclusive of but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds, work at heights, continuous work in confined spaces, ascend/ descend/ work from: stairs/ladders/scaffolding.
- Must have the ability to work continuously in an environment inclusive of but not limited to: dust, loud noise(s), walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, outdoors, heat/cold, poorly illuminated areas.
