Just HR has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to lead HR strategy for a key operational portfolio within a large, unionized environment. This role is designed for a seasoned HR leader who can influence at a senior level, guide complex employee relations matters, and shape workforce strategies that drive performance, stability, and long-term operational success. Acting as a critical link between leadership and HR, this position ensures that people decisions are proactive, data-informed, and aligned with broader business priorities. Responsibilities Act as a senior advisor to operational leadership, influencing decisions on workforce strategy and organizational effectiveness Lead complex employee relations matters, including high-risk investigations and dispute resolution Partner with leaders to strengthen labour relations and navigate collective agreement challenges Drive accountability in performance management, including coaching leaders through difficult conversations Translate business priorities into forward-looking workforce and talent plans Interpret and apply employment legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies to mitigate risk Connect operations with HR functional teams to deliver coordinated, high-impact solutions Oversee attendance and absence programs, using data to identify trends and improve outcomes Guide leaders in managing attendance issues through structured and consistent approaches Support return-to-work planning and workplace accommodations in collaboration with internal partners Lead or contribute to change initiatives, ensuring workforce impacts are well managed Provide insight and recommendations using HR metrics and operational data Mentor and support more junior HR team members as needed Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a unionized environment Proven experience operating as a senior HRBP or HR leader supporting operations Deep expertise in employee relations, investigations, and labour relations is essential Strong understanding of BC employment legislation and regulatory frameworks Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive business-aligned HR outcomes Experience working in complex environments such as manufacturing, construction, or logistics preferred Strong judgment and ability to manage sensitive and high-impact situations Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills Ability to analyze workforce data and translate insights into action High level of professionalism, discretion, and accountability CPHR designation is an asset Remuneration Salary range: $115,000 - $135,000 plus bonus and pension matching.
