We have developed a ground-breaking medical device for the diagnosis and treatment of the most common heart rhythm disorder, atrial fibrillation – which can cause stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications. Kardium’s mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. To achieve this, we have developed The Globe® Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story. We have obtained FDA and Health Canada approval and officially begun the commercial launch of the Globe® Pulsed Field System. This is a pivotal and exciting time in our journey, as we bring this life-changing technology to patients! As a member of the Product team, you will get hands-on experience in the development of an innovative training system for physicians and field staff. The work within our team is varied, and collaboration with other elements of the business is a key part of what we do. With your skills and knowledge of mechanical design, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to Kardium’s goals. Please note, this opportunity is an onsite work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC. What You Will Experience You will engage in activities that develop practical and transferable skills such as: Designing and manufacturing tools used in simulated procedures with clinical staff and physicians Prototyping, analyzing and making rapid development to tools used to support clinical workflow training Preparing technical documentation to support the activities outlined above and capture the knowledge you’ve gained Supporting the training of new field staff by helping coordinate the delivery of training devices into the field What You Bring to the Team Our Kardium team is smart, creative, and passionate about creating cutting-edge medical devices to help improve people’s lives. You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes: An interest in healthcare and medical device development Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks preferred Hands-on experience with mechanical design and iterative prototyping Demonstrated communication skills and success working in a team setting Some experience with machine shop equipment such as lathe, milling, and drill press as well as prototyping tools like 3D printers and/or laser cutters An understanding of mechanical concepts and their practical application A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to execute a variety of tasks independently Why Work at Kardium? Compensation Compensation for this role is based on multiple factors including your current year of study, the number of previous co-op terms completed, as well as market data. Relocation Support Relocation Allowance: We offer a relocation allowance to support out-of-province students moving to Burnaby BC for their Co-op/Intern term Community Before Day One: Out-of-province students make up about 30% of each cohort.
