The Role KGS Group is currently looking to fill a position as an Archaeologist to act as a permit holder as recognized by the Manitoba provincial regulator. The position will be in our growing Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment Department in our KGS Group office in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Key Responsibilities Acting as a permit holder, as recognized by the provincial regulator Supervise the completion of Heritage Resource Impact Assessments in Manitoba Conduct basic archaeological fieldwork tasks (pedestrian survey, test pitting, documentation, artifact analysis, report preparation) Supervise small crews of 2-6 people as they carry out archaeological fieldwork tasks and ensure their quality of work meets the methods and ethics set out in provincial regulations Work with the project management team to help coordinate fieldwork planning and logistics Communicate and work with Indigenous community groups Ensure adherence to KGS Group health and safety policies and codes of conduct About You To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experience. Some highlights could include: Must have a four-year bachelor’s or thesis -based master’s degree in an area of archaeology with the ability to hold permits 1+ year of experience directing others in archaeological field methods Able to work in outdoor environments for extended periods of time, involving moderate to difficult hiking conditions in a variety of weather conditions Driver’s license Experience With The Following Will Be Considered Assets Established permit-holder in AB, SK, or MB an Archaeological License in good standing as issued by the Government of Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport; (either an Applied Research License (R-License) or Professional License (P-License) ATV or UTV license training First Aid training Previous archaeological fieldwork experience in remote conditions and difficult terrain and environments KGS Group is an employee-owned equal opportunity company offering an excellent total compensation and benefits package for employees. Applicants must hold a bachelor's or master's degree in archaeology with the ability to hold provincial permits. Candidates need at least one year of experience directing archaeological field methods and must be able to work in challenging outdoor terrain.
