Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a part-time, on-site role based in Oshawa, ON, but requires the ability to be mobilized as far as St. Catherine's, and Kingston. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles used in underground utility construction, including performing routine and preventive maintenance. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, completing service reports, and ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant with company and regulatory standards. The mechanic will collaborate with supervisors to ensure proper communication and recommendations. This is not an apprenticeship position Requirements On Call Ability Owner Operator of service truck/tools Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance, with the ability to perform routine and preventive service. Hands-on experience working with Heavy Equipment, including construction and utility vehicles. Proficiency in Equipment Repair and Troubleshooting for mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems. Relevant technical training or certification in heavy equipment or automotive mechanics; trade license . Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a construction or utility environment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions. Valid driver’s license
