Internal and External Posting Position Title: Out of School Care Team Lead Classification: Non-Union Type of Position: Permanent, part time. Conditions of Work: On-Site Overview: Kiwassa Neighbourhood House grows a welcoming and inclusive community in the vibrant Hastings-Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods of East Vancouver, Located on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səlílw̓ ətaʔ/Selilwitulh (TsleilWaututh), and xʷməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam) Nations. Job Summary: We are currently seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Out of School Care Team Lead to work in and enhance high-quality and sustainable childcare programs. This role will focus on supporting planning activities, organizing staff, and implementing activities and experiences for an inclusive, child-centered Out of School Care Program. This role will connect and collaborate with the Childcare Manager, and the Out of School Care Coordinator to develop the program, implement activities, and obtain program supplies. This program is working in program with Before and After School Care September to June and expected to have full-time 35 hours per week between July and August and support with Summer Camp. The usual hours of work for this program will be 2 pm – 6 pm, with some mornings (7:30 – 9:30 am). Kiwassa embraces internal movement and training, we would encourage everyone to apply. Duties and Responsibilities * Plans and implements activities and experiences for individual and group needs of children with consideration for multicultural, inclusive, child-centred and developmentally appropriate activities * Organizes supplies and maintains supplies necessary for running a successful program * Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met * Stay up to date with new techniques and activities, collaborates with Childcare and Youth Manager to implement innovative and appropriate activities to engage participants * Recruits, selects, dismisses, orients, trains, monitors and provides support to program volunteers * Maintains positive and regular communication with parents, educators, and family support worker regarding development * Maintains relationships with external resources, school and KNH staff members * Maintains open communication with families regarding attendance, pick up and drop off, and any behavioural concerns during the day * Facilitates pre-and-post-shift team discussions * Collaborates with licensing that childcare safety standards are being upheld * Upholds safety standards as per Kiwassa requirements * Ensures all policies and procedures pertaining to facility are followed * Provides updates and reporting as required * Other duties as assigned Reporting Relationships The position reports to the Childcare Manager and the Out of School Care Coordinator. The Team Lead will work with a team of 1 to 3 additional after school care staff. Qualifications: Education and Knowledge * Diploma in a related human/social service field or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Early Childhood Educator Certificate an asset Training and Experience * Two years recent related experience * Emergency Childcare First Aid or ability to obtain during the first 3 months of employment * Criminal Record Check Salary: $29.17/per hour plus any applicable Wage Enhancement We strongly encourage applications from and prioritize from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including folks with disabilities, Indigenous people, racialized people and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks. Candidates must have a diploma in a human or social service field or equivalent experience, along with at least two years of recent related work. An Early Childhood Educator Certificate is considered an asset, and the role requires a Criminal Record Check and Emergency Childcare First Aid.
