Role Description The Intermediate Electrical Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. This role is responsible for developing electrical designs and drawings for industrial automation and control systems, including power distribution, motor control, and panel layouts. Day-to-day tasks include preparing single line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, and load calculations; coordinating with engineers and other design disciplines; and ensuring designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications. The Intermediate Electrical Designer collaborates with project teams to support estimates, material selection, and construction support, and may assist with site visits, field reviews, and as-built documentation. The role involves working closely with project managers to meet schedule and quality expectations and contributing to continuous improvement of design tools and standards. Qualifications Strong proficiency in Electrical Design, including creating detailed drawings, schematics, and documentation for industrial and commercial projects. Solid understanding of Electricity fundamentals and applied electrical principles related to safety, load calculations, and circuit design. Background in Electrical Engineering, with the ability to work collaboratively with engineers to develop and review technical solutions. Experience with Power Distribution systems, including low-voltage distribution, motor control centers, and panelboard layouts. Knowledge of Power Systems, including fault level analysis, protective devices, and coordination with utility requirements. Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical) and familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., CEC, NEC). Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple priorities. Previous experience in industrial automation, systems integration, or related industries is an asset.
