About the opportunity: The Project Manager Intern, Engineer, will be responsible for supporting various engineering activities within our organization, under the supervision of experienced team members. This includes participating in the planning, design and implementation of various engineering projects in a manufacturing plant environment. The attributes we are looking for: Technical support: Assist senior engineers in carrying out research, analysis and testing in support of medium to large capital expenditure engineering projects. Design and development: Contribute to the design and development of processes or systems through the application of engineering principles and the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software and other technical tools. Documentation and reports: Prepare technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, work permits, lockout/tagout procedures, and reports. Ensure accurate record-keeping of progress on projects and results obtained. Problem solving: Participate in identifying and solving technical problems encountered during project execution. Continuous learning: Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices and relevant technological advances in the field of engineering. Participate in training and development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge. Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including production, quality assurance, maintenance, and purchasing, to support project coordination and implementation. Supplier management: Communicate with external suppliers and subcontractors for the procurement of materials, equipment and services needed to complete projects. Safety compliance: Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and for others. Maintenance support: Support the maintenance team by helping to draw up a list of added equipment, with a view to implementing a preventive maintenance program. What you will bring: Currently enrolled in an engineering program (e.g., industrial, mechanical, chemical, or food engineering) Enjoys solving problems and making logical decisions Has completed at least one to two progressive experience traineeships (a traineeship or a work-study experience in engineering is an asset) Is working towards obtaining the professional engineer designation (eng.)—an asset Basic understanding of engineering principles and concepts, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context Proficiency in computer-aided design software (CAD) and technical engineering tools Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail Communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively within a team Motivated to learn and open to meeting new challenges Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively What Lactalis will offer: Lactalis Canada believes in rewarding its students with the following student package: A welcoming and passionate team Hands-on, meaningful projects An environment where your ideas truly matter A great addition to your resume (and maybe more…) A competitive salary 8% vacation pay Health & dental benefits starting day 1 (including coverage for vision, mental health practitioners, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, naturopathy, and more!) Compensation: As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is $26/h – $27+/h.
