Position Overview The Senior Property Accountant (Commercial) is responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting of Leyad’s commercial property portfolio. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, provides timely reporting, and supports management with analysis and insights to optimize portfolio performance. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. Review and reconcile tenant ledgers, rent rolls, and operating cost recoveries. Process and review CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and realty tax reconciliations. Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure accuracy and timely processing. Analyze and interpret lease agreements to determine billing obligations, recoverable expenses, and rent escalations. Mentor and support junior accounting staff and accounting technicians as needed Assist in annual budget preparation and reforecasting and RANs. Support cash flow management and analyze variances against budgets and forecasts. Coordinate with Property Managers to ensure accuracy of financial information and provide financial insights to support operational decisions. Liaise with external auditors and provide supporting documentation for year-end audits. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting requirements. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive experience in property accounting, with a focus on commercial real estate. Strong understanding of commercial leases, CAM reconciliations, and financial reporting standards. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Yardi. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Key Competencies Financially analytical with strong problem-solving skills.
