The RN provides direct primary care to individuals and families across the lifespan, promoting health, preventing illness, managing chronic conditions, and supporting overall wellness through evidence-informed nursing practice. Working in partnership with clients, families, Elders, community members, and healthcare professionals, the RN assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, and evaluates care to support positive health outcomes. The RN is committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and racism-free environment that honours Indigenous cultures, values, traditions, and ways of knowing. Through cultural humility and trauma- and violence-informed practice, the RN supports holistic wellness and contributes to advancing health equity and reconciliation. The Registered Nurse (RN) Daily reports to Community Nurse and is managed by the Health Department Manager. The RN practices in accordance with the standards, ethics, and scope of practice established by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), applicable legislation, and Lheidli T?enneh First Nation policies and procedures. *PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * 1. Provides holistic patient assessments that include health history, medication history, and physical evaluations with patience and Cultural Humility. 2. Demonstrates cultural humility, trauma and violence informed practice and provides care that acknowledges the client?s values, cultural beliefs, and practices. 3. Respectfully acknowledges lived experiences, history and provides non-judgmental advice/answers to client?s primary concerns. 4. Monitors, assesses and documents observations, symptoms, interventions and changes in client health status. 6. Within scope of practice, orders diagnostic tests and/or collects specimens to inform evidence-based care decisions. 7. Documents assessments, interventions, care plans, outcomes, and other relevant information in the client?s health record in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner. 8. Applies health promotion, chronic disease management, advanced care planning, and self-management principles to assess client needs, provide direct care, and address changes in health status with empathy, cultural humility, and a trauma-informed approach. 9. Administers medications, injections and treatments according to established policies and protocols and within the scope of practice. 10. Collaborates with clients and families to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate client care plans in consultation with members of interprofessional health team as needed. 11. Reviews clinical findings with client/family and the interprofessional team, collaboratively, identifies client centered goals and plans for care that promote self-management and improved health-related quality of life. 12. Champions cultural safety and humility in all aspects of the job, and advocates for and applies culturally relevant and appropriate approaches when building relationships and providing nursing services. 13. Maintains competency that reflects current standards of practice, including anti-racism and cultural humility standards as they are developed, by engaging in professional development activities including review of relevant literature, attending educational workshops and in-services, consulting and networking with other health care professionals. 14.
