LIFE AFTER LAW is Canada’s national recruitment firm dedicated to placing lawyers in private practice, corporate counsel, quasi-legal, and executive roles. 25+ years developing lasting relationships with lawyers, law firms and companies Our client, a well-established litigation law firm is seeking a Litigation Law Clerk to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Law Clerk with a solid foundation in litigation who is looking to further develop their experience while taking on meaningful and substantive work. Working closely with experienced lawyers, the successful candidate will assist with drafting, document production, file management, and the progression of matters through various stages of the litigation process. The ideal candidate has hands-on civil litigation experience, strong drafting and organizational skills, and an interest in continuing to develop their career in civil and construction litigation. Responsibilities This role will include: Provide law clerk support on civil and construction litigation matters. Draft, prepare, review, and organize legal documents and correspondence. Assist with legal and factual research as required. Manage and maintain litigation files, ensuring documents and information are properly organized. Monitor files and assist with timely follow-ups and ongoing matter management. Communicate professionally with clients and other parties involved in legal matters. Assist lawyers with the day-to-day management and progression of their files. Maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Work independently on assigned responsibilities while collaborating with lawyers and other members of the team. Requirements You are the ideal candidate if you have/are: A Law Clerk diploma or equivalent legal education is preferred. 2+ years of experience as a Law Clerk, preferably supporting civil litigation matters. Exposure to construction litigation is considered an asset. Experience drafting pleadings and other substantive litigation documents. Working knowledge of Ontario litigation procedures and the Rules of Civil Procedure. Familiarity with discoveries, motions, document production, court filings, and other stages of the litigation process. Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. Comfortable taking initiative and working independently while contributing to a collaborative team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with legal document and practice management systems.
