Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Welland, ON, responsible for maintaining and repairing lift trucks and related heavy equipment. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostics, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing scheduled preventative maintenance, and conducting repairs on engines, hydraulics, brakes, and drive systems. The role involves inspecting equipment for safety and performance, documenting all service work, and communicating findings and repair recommendations to supervisors and customers in a clear, professional manner. The mechanic will work both in the shop and occasionally at customer sites, using appropriate tools and equipment while following all safety procedures and company policies. Collaboration with service advisors and parts personnel is expected to ensure timely and accurate completion of work orders. Qualifications Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance for lift trucks and related heavy machinery. Demonstrated ability in Equipment Repair and Heavy Equipment service, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Proficient Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues efficiently. Relevant technical training or apprenticeship in heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial mechanics. Experience using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and maintenance software is an asset. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and repair documentation. Commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to PPE and safe lifting practices. Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver’s license; ability to operate service vehicles and, where required, lift trucks (appropriate certifications are an asset).
