Résumé du poste
Production - Unannounced Book-Based Animated Series Format - Short-form digital animated series Position Type - Contract Work Arrangement - On-site, Kingston (Preferred) Send Applications to: [email protected] About the Role We are looking for talented Funpack Designers to join the design team on an upcoming book-based animated production. The initial engagement is for a short-form digital animated series, with the potential to lead into a planned long-form animated series based on the same property. The production is primarily 2D Toon Boom Harmony with a stylized, cinematic and anime-influenced visual direction. We are looking for versatile designers with strong drawing and production-design skills who can quickly develop the story-specific props, objects, character variations, costumes, graphic elements, FX sprites and other episodic assets required for production. This is a broad episodic design role for artists who are comfortable moving between different types of production design, responding quickly to scripts, design briefs, approved design references and creative direction, and developing clear, consistent and production-ready artwork. What You’ll Do • Create story-specific designs from scripts, approved design references, design briefs and creative direction. • Design props, objects, set dressing, costumes, character variations, secondary elements and other episodic production needs. • Design reusable 2D FX sprites and graphic elements such as impacts, smoke, sparks, debris, energy and glows for use by the Animation and Compositing teams. • Design alternate and progressive states of locations, props and other assets where required by the story, including damage, destruction, transformation and aftermath variants. • Develop special poses, expressions, action variants, transformations and other production reference as required. • Explore multiple visual solutions efficiently while maintaining the established style of the production. • Refine approved concepts into clear, consistent and production-ready artwork. For more complex assets, provide alternate views, construction details, callouts or production notes where required so Animation and Compositing have the information needed to use the designs correctly and consistently. • Create assets that work effectively within a Toon Boom Harmony production pipeline. • Work closely with the Director and other Design team members to resolve visual and production needs. • Respond efficiently to notes and revisions while meeting agreed production schedules. • Maintain consistency with established character, environment and overall show-design language. What We’re Looking For • Professional experience creating episodic production-design assets for 2D animation. • Experience with Toon Boom Harmony is preferred. Candidates with strong 2D production-design experience and the ability to adapt to a Harmony-based pipeline will also be considered. • Strong proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or comparable digital drawing and painting software. • Strong experience designing props, objects, costumes, character variants and other story-specific production assets. • Experience designing 2D FX elements, sprites, graphic effects and reusable production assets. • Experience creating alternate or progressive asset states, including damaged, transformed or destroyed versions of props, characters or environments. • Strong drawing, design and visual-development skills. • Versatility across character, prop, graphic and general production design. • Strong understanding of shape, silhouette, proportion, perspective and visual storytelling. • Ability to create clear, production-ready artwork that can move efficiently into downstream animation and compositing. • Ability to adapt quickly between different types of design assignments while maintaining an established show style. • Ability to work collaboratively, respond well to creative direction and turn around revisions efficiently. • Anime-influenced, stylized or action-oriented design experience is considered an asset. • Ability to work quickly across a high volume of varied episodic design assignments while maintaining quality, consistency and the established visual style of the production. Portfolio Required All applicants must include a link to a portfolio of relevant work in their application materials. Portfolios should demonstrate versatility across several areas of episodic production design. Examples may include props, objects, costumes, character variations, special poses, FX elements, graphic effects, alternate asset states and other reusable or story-specific production assets. We are particularly interested in portfolios that demonstrate strong drawing ability, stylization, production awareness and the ability to develop a range of visual elements while maintaining consistency within an established style. Applicants should include examples of 2D FX elements, sprites or comparable reusable production assets, as well as damaged, transformed or alternate-state design work where available. Professional production work is preferred, but strong personal work demonstrating the required skills may also be considered. Where exploratory, AI-assisted or collaborative work is included, applicants should clearly identify the nature of the work and their artistic contribution. Contract Information The initial contract is for a short-form digital animated series. There may be an opportunity for successful team members to continue onto the planned long-form series based on the same property, depending on production requirements, performance and availability. Rate: $1,000-$1,200 per week based on a 40-hour work week. The final rate will be determined based on experience, skills and qualifications. It is preferred that this position is primarily based on-site at our studio in Kingston, Ontario. Applicants should be based in Kingston or the surrounding area, or be able to work primarily on-site in Kingston. Remote applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Application Details Apply by email at [email protected]. Please write the position title in the email subject line for consideration. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
