Job Title: Setup Technician Job Summary Set up and maintain production equipment to ensure efficient and consistent operation. Working closely with the Production Supervisor, this role ensures that machines are prepared for production runs, troubleshooting any issues to minimize downtime. Responsibility * Set up, adjust, and calibrate production equipment (CNC & Conventional) for scheduled production runs according to specifications. * Read and interpret CMM reports, analyze out of tolerance conditions and make adjustments. * Setup and maintain adjustable support tools (fixturing). * Predict tool wear and tool changes based on SPC data. * Perform routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues before they cause downtime. * Troubleshoot equipment problems during production and collaborate with maintenance teams to resolve mechanical or technical issues. * Monitor equipment during operation, ensuring adherence to safety standards, quality guidelines, and production efficiency. * Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. * Use precision measuring instruments to check dimensions of parts according to drawing specifications. * Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to optimize setup processes, reduce downtime, and improve product quality. * Maintain accurate records of equipment setup, adjustments, and any repairs or maintenance performed. * Assist in training and developing production team members on equipment operation and setup procedures to ensure consistency and safety. * Communicate closely with the Production Supervisor to report on equipment status, production issues, and any areas requiring attention. Academic/Educational Requirements * Completion of secondary school is required * Technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or related field is an asset. Required Skills/Experience * 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with expertise in machine setup and troubleshooting. * Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of production machinery and equipment. * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and machine specifications. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production teams and supervisors.
