Position Posting Lifeguard/Instructor (2 Position Available) Term of Employment:Full-time, ContinuingCurrent Location:Bioclean Aquatic CentreRate of Pay:Band 2: $24.85 - $27.12 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)Duties:The Lifeguard/Instructor maintains the safety of pool patrons, providing necessary supervision and protection for swimmers, in accordance with recognized Lifeguard procedures. Instructs the Swim for Life programs, of all ages and abilities. Duties * Educate the public regarding policies and procedures related to patron safety. * Monitor patron activities in the swimming pools to prevent accidents and injuries. * Enforce facility rules to maintain safety and proper use of facility and equipment. * Maintain the order and proper conduct of people using the facility. * React to emergent situations; perform first aid as required. * Maintain public and staff safety. * Perform daily maintenance duties. * Instruct swimmers in the Swim for Life program; teach swim skills, strokes and water safety. * Provide a safe and learning-friendly environment for swimmers. * Work with swimmers of all ages and abilities. * Develop strategies to communicate with swimmers of all ages. * Create enjoyable learning situations and experiences. * Create lessons plans for each swim lesson. * Maintain the attention of the children. * Enforce facility rules to maintain safety and proper use of facility and equipment. * React to emergent situations; perform first aid as required. * Perform daily pool maintenance duties. Other * Other related duties as required. Schedule:The position works shifts consisting of early mornings, daytimes, evenings and weekends. The ability to work weekends is required. Qualifications: * National Lifeguard Award (NL). * Swim for Life Instructor. * Standard First Aid/CPR C. * Ability to maintain physical standards required of the National Lifeguard Certification; able to stand for extended periods; carry and lift; and remain attentive in noisy, disruptive, hot and cold conditions. * Flexibility to work daytime, evening and weekend shifts. Pre-Employment Requirements: * Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check. * Successful applicant must provide proof of qualifications. * Applicants with international education will be required to include an Academic Credential Assessment with application.
