Work site environment At heights Noisy Dusty Outdoors Work setting Construction Various locations Renovation Commercial Industrial Institutional Residential Level of expertise Maintenance and repair Tasks Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites Survey building locations and levels Instruct apprentices Supervise other workers Estimate costs and materials Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments Supervision 3-4 people Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate Equipment and machinery experience Hand tools Transportation/travel information Willing to travel regularly Valid driver's licence Work conditions and physical capabilities Bending, crouching, kneeling Combination of sitting, standing, walking Handling heavy loads Large workload Physically demanding Tight deadlines Work with minimal supervision Own tools/equipment Safety equipment/gear Steel-toed safety boots Hard hat Safety glasses/goggles Personal suitability Accurate Client focus Efficient interpersonal skills Judgement Reliability Team player Values and ethics Punctuality Financial benefits Gasoline paid
Ce que vous ferez
The carpenter will prepare estimates of labor and material costs, read blueprints, and perform various construction tasks including building foundations and installing windows and doors. They will also supervise other workers and maintain, repair, and renovate structures.
Exigences
Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience in carpentry and must possess a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel regularly are also required.
