HERE'S THE SCOOP – SUMMARY The Quality Assurance and Sanitation Supervisor is a solutions-oriented leader responsible for overseeing and controlling the comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of processing equipment, utensils, and the entire plant environment. This role drives the development, execution, and continuous evaluation of the facility’s Sanitation Program, ensuring full alignment with quality metrics and strict regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge leading Sanitation teams as well as knowledge in Food Safety and EMP to support the company goals. WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE: People Leadership & Team Development * Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and motivation to the night-shift sanitation team and any embedded third-party sanitation contractors. * Performance management; including hiring, training, evaluations, conflict resolution, and the administration of time and attendance records. * Design and execute technical training programs to ensure all team members are highly proficient in safety protocols, chemical handling, and standard cleaning methodologies. * Support and promote the facility's health and safety programs, ensuring strict adherence to LOTO, confined space entry, and mobile equipment safety. Operational & Technical Excellence * Oversee daily sanitation for a complex food processing plant, including CIP systems, COP stations, housekeeping of the general offices and exterior grounds. * Maintain and optimize the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), establish operational priorities and assign work as needed. * Manage inventories of sanitation chemicals, protective gear, and related supplies. * Partner closely with third-party chemical suppliers and contractors to optimize chemical usage and enhance cleaning efficiency while maintaining the sanitation budget. * Review, update, and enforce SSOPs to reflect changing operational needs or equipment designs. * Conduct routine pre-operational inspections and sanitation audits, driving rapid corrective actions for any identified gaps. * Collaborate with EMP investigations, corrective actions for swabbing hits and proactively address sanitary design or microbiological challenges. * Ensure safe chemical titration, storage, and handling protocols are met WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? * Relevant post-secondary education (Food Science, Operations Management, or a related technical discipline). * Minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience managing teams, preferably within a fast-paced food/ pet food manufacturing environment. * Deep technical understanding of food plant sanitation, wet and dry-cleaning environments, chemical applications, and automated cleaning systems. * Knowledge of Food Safety, Basic Food Microbiology, and global food safety standards. As well as Health & Safety Regulations, Lock Out Tag Out, and Mobile equipment * Proven ability to build strong relationships with multiple cross-functional areas, to enhance efficiency and productivity * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (fluent in written and spoken English); proficiency in MS Office and an aptitude for digital facility-management tools. WORKING CONDITIONS * Working inside a clean, modern, state-of-the-art pet food manufacturing facility, with brand new equipment. * Primarily dedicated night shift(Monday - Friday from 9pm to 5:30am) with required flexibility to attend audits or presentations during the day. * Extend hours or work occasional weekends to support plant deep-clean or other projects * Minimal travel required.
