Company: Marsh McLennan Agency Description: Counsel We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance, & Public Affairs team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in Toronto and is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. As a Counsel, you will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical advice to Marsh McLennan’s Marsh McLennan Agency US/Canadian businesses, advising on commercial contracting and associated matters. You will work closely with the business and other members of the Legal Team to review and negotiate various agreements, including client service agreements, consulting agreements, statements of work, insurance carrier appointment contracts, and Non-Disclosure Agreements. Additionally, you will review Requests for Proposals and prepare responses in compliance with Company contractual requirements while communicating company and legal department policies and approval processes for contract changes to in-house clients. The role will report to Marsh & McLennan Agency’s Chief Commercial Counsel. We will count on you to: Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements with clients from all industry sectors Contribute to and reinforce the Marsh McLennan Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs (“LCPA”) Department’s Strategic Plan and initiatives that impact the LCPA organization Demonstrate strong written and oral communications skills Collaborate effectively with business, operations, and legal and compliance colleagues Promote an ethical culture where employees are encouraged to voice their concerns and opinions Above all, exercise sound judgment What you need to have: Be a Member of the Bar of a Canadian province or US state Law degree from an accredited law school, plus at least 2+ years’ experience at a law firm or in-house at a reputable company, with a focus on commercial contracting What makes you stand out? All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person. The applicable base salary range for this role is $119,200 to $169,200. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives. Exigences
Candidates must hold a law degree from an accredited law school and be a member of the Bar of a Canadian province or US state. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department with a focus on commercial contracting is required.
