Parts Purchaser August 20, 2026 Department Parts Location: Winnipeg, MB Job Type Full Time Description PARTS PURCHASER Maxim Truck and Trailer 1860 Brookside Blvd Winnipeg, MB R3C 2E6 Do you have technical knowledge of heavy duty truck and trailer parts? Maxim is currently seeking a PARTS PURCHASER. The successful candidate will order heavy-duty truck and trailer parts to maintain inventory levels and ensure customer satisfaction while building long-term relationships with parts suppliers. Responsibilities Orders parts for all Maxim locations by consulting suggested order report or taking requests directly from branches; this may include placing emergency orders. Negotiates special pricing adjustments with vendors. Works with branch Parts Managers to ensure they understand the programs available to them. Also expedites parts including following up on stock orders and back-orders (e.g. arrival dates). Maintains and updates stock order minimums/maximums to ensure sufficient inventory levels. Updates price changes and part number descriptions, messages, and substitutions in Karmak. Maintains a central purchasing order form for all vendors and a USMCA book for all USA vendors. Analyzes potential suppliers to current suppliers by comparing costs, product, and other variables on MS Excel. Continuously looks for process improvements. Supports ongoing efforts to reduce obsolete inventory. This includes maintaining a vendor return schedule and assisting Inventory Analyst with vendor returns. Assists Parts staff (e.g. warehouse, Parts Counter, A/P) with supplier questions such as shortages, freight rates, invoices, and reconciling postings, etc. Qualifications Sourced and purchased parts in a multi-branch, retail environment Knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts preferred Parts counter or order desk experience within the heavy-duty (or related) industry may also be considered Effective communication skills with varying levels of people Ability to build relationships and negotiate with suppliers Organized, sets priorities, meets deadlines Aptitude for numbers and shows attention to detail Shows initiative and works as part of a team Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, email, internet Ability to learn in-house computer system; Karmak knowledge an asset Willingness to take purchasing courses or seminars Why choose Maxim?
