The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University is seeking a Research Assistant 2 for the Biomechanics of Movement research project under the supervision of Professor Guillaume Durandau. This role will contribute to innovative research focused on human movement analysis, rehabilitation technologies, wearable robotics, and motion capture systems. Responsibilities include data acquisition and analysis, implementation of experimental protocols, scientific dissemination, and support for ongoing clinical and experimental research studies. This is a unionized position, and the incumbent will be a member of the AMURE (Research Associates and Assistants) bargaining unit. Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation, writing, and submission of grant applications, ethics protocols, research proposals, and other funding-related documents. Coordinate and support research projects, including study timelines, documentation, regulatory compliance, and communication among collaborators. Process, organize, manage, and analyze research data using appropriate computational, biomechanical, and statistical tools. Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, conference abstracts, technical reports, presentations, and knowledge translation materials. Support the development, implementation, and optimization of research methodologies, software tools, and experimental workflows related to rehabilitation technologies and human movement research. Assist with participant recruitment, scheduling, screening, and data collection activities for clinical and experimental research studies. Conduct biomechanical analyses using motion capture technologies (marker-based and markerless systems) and standardized rehabilitation outcome measures. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field. Assists the Research Supervisor in conducting research projects using established protocols with minimal or no supervision. Knowledge of rehabilitation sciences, biomechanics, human movement analysis, biomedical engineering, kinesiology, or a related discipline. Experience with human movement analysis technologies, including motion capture systems, electromyography (EMG), force plates, inertial measurement units (IMUs), and related instrumentation. Proficiency in data processing, management, and statistical analysis using software such as MATLAB, Python, SPSS, or similar computational tools. Strong scientific writing and communication skills, with experience contributing to manuscripts, conference presentations, technical reports, grant applications, or research documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint).
