The pediatrician is responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases and physiological disorders in patients. They also order diagnostic tests, refer patients for surgery, and act as consultants to other physicians.

Candidates must hold a degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry and possess licensure from provincial or territorial authorities. A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience is required.
