International Student Services Coordinator Student Services Specialist I Medicine Hat College is seeking a temporary, full-time International Student Services Specialist in our International Education department. A little about the role: Reporting to the Director, International Education, the primary area of responsibility for this position is to provide international students with non-academic advisory services. This includes, but is not limited to, providing information and support for pre-arrival, arrival, onboarding, registration, accommodations, and immigration. This position also organizes and promotes social and cultural activities that engage diverse student populations within the college community and works as a team member in supporting international students. As a successful applicant you will have: Four-year degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of related work experience and education. Two years of related experience (international student services, international education, student services), preferably in post-secondary education. Strong intercultural knowledge and experience in working with culturally diverse populations. This position requires a candidate who holds Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or RCIC designation or who has made significant progress toward obtaining RISIA designation. Considerable knowledge of immigration rules as they apply to international students Event and activity planning and promotion skills Strong understanding of: adjustment process for international students, effective strategies to ease transition, and the contribution of international students to the College Fluent in English. A conversational ability/fluency in another language is an asset. Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract First Aid and Mental Health First Aid training (candidates without this certification must obtain it within the first 1 year of employment) Experience with Student Information Systems is an asset.
