Company Description Mental Health and Addiction Services of Ottawa is dedicated to supporting individuals and families through assessments, counselling, and therapies focused on mental health and addiction issues. The organization emphasizes helping clients gain knowledge, understanding, and effective treatment so they can work toward their personal goals. Services are provided by skilled clinicians who engage in ongoing training to maintain current, evidence-informed practice. The team collaborates closely with community agencies, service providers, and other stakeholders to promote coordinated care and optimal outcomes for clients. Role Description The Social Worker/Psychotherapist will provide client-centered assessments, individual and family counselling, and psychotherapy to people experiencing mental health and addiction challenges. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake and psychosocial assessments, developing treatment plans, delivering evidence-based interventions, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and coordinating care with other professionals and community resources. The role also involves working with clients who have significant trauma experiences. In addition, we serve FN, Inuit, Metis, as a as Retired Military, and first responsders, and medical professionals. This is a contract, if for a primarily in-person role with some opportunity for hybrid in Ottawa, ON. Qualifications Relevant professional registration (e.g., MSW and registration with a social work college, or registration as a psychotherapist) and adherence to professional standards and ethics. Demonstrated skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning, and delivery of evidence-based counselling or psychotherapy for mental health and addiction concerns. Experience using in trauma treatment, client-centered, and culturally sensitive approaches when working with diverse individuals and families. Strong collaboration skills, including ability to coordinate with community agencies, healthcare providers, and support networks to enhance client outcomes. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including clear documentation, maintaining confidentiality, and providing psychoeducation to clients and families. Ability to manage a caseload, balance in-person and virtual work, and use electronic health records and telehealth platforms effectively. Ongoing commitment to professional development, openness to supervision and consultation, and regular participation in training related to mental health and addictions. Previous experience in community mental health or addiction services in Ottawa or similar settings is an asset; ability to provide services in additional languages is considered beneficial.
