POSITION DESCRIPTION We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team at Mercer Celgar. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating audits - internal, external and third-party assurance, capital and fixed asset accounting and supporting various financial functions within our organization. RESPONSIBILITIES * Coordinate SOX audits - internal and external * Coordinate Pension audit - includes preparation of pension statements * Coordinate third-party assurance audits & reviews * Prepare and oversee transactions for capital & fixed assets * Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations * Support preparation of monthly financial statements. * Ensure compliance with internal controls in a SOX compliant environment. * Prepare and distribute scheduled and ad hoc financial reports * Other related duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE * Professional Designation (CPA) or working towards * Degree (B.Sc./B.A.) or Diploma (Dip.) in Commerce, Business Admin, Finance or similar 4 year post-secondary discipline * 5 years of progressive accounting experience * Proficiency in a variety of office software applications including accounting software, MS Excel, Google Suite, SAP and other ERP systems * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment * Experience in the manufacturing or forestry industry * Familiarity with international accounting standards SALARY The salary for this position is $92,000 - $139,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
