The Opportunity As a Merit Recruitment Consultant, you operate as an independent contractor under the Merit umbrella, your business, your specialty, your relationships, your way of working. Merit provides the brand, standards, and platform to help you build. This isn't a desk. It's a business you own. What You'll Do • Build and grow your own candidate pipeline and book of business • Manage full-cycle recruitment, sourcing, screening, interviewing, shortlisting • Assess candidates on capability, character, culture, and long-term fit, not just keywords • Advise clients on hiring strategy, role design, and market conditions • Guide candidates through the process with transparency and real communication • Conduct market research and talent mapping in your specialty • Collaborate with other Merit recruiters where expertise overlaps. Be assigned to, or source client companies, who are in your field of expertise, to present candidates on the bench, or source candidates, specifically for the role. Manage job postings and funnels. What We're Looking For • Demonstrated experience in full-cycle recruiting, agency, corporate, executive search, or specialized • Strong consulting and client-advisory skills, not just sourcing • Excellent interviewing and candidate assessment ability • A track record of relationship-driven placements • Strong judgment, confidentiality, and professionalism • Familiarity with applicant tracking/recruitment systems • Knowledge of Canadian employment practices (asset) • HR/recruitment certification or related post-secondary education (asset) Open to all specialties, technology, finance, energy, healthcare, professional services, construction, sales, executive search, skilled trades, and beyond.
