Deckhand/Factory Worker

Deckhands perform a variety of tasks related to the sailing of Mersey's boats. Fishing vessel deckhands perform some or all of the following duties: Clean, sort and pack fish in ice and stow catch in hold. Repair nets, splice ropes and maintain fishing gear and other deck equipment. Set up and operate machines to bag, box or otherwise package fish products. Check products and packaging for defects and to ensure conformance to company standards and perform corrective machine adjustments as required. Record production information such as quantity, weight, date and type of products packaged. The successful candidates must hold, or be willing to obtain, a Marine Emergency Duties (MED) certificate as well as a valid passport and be able to enter into the United States and other countries. A willingness to travel and work flexible hours are a requirement of this position. Preference will be given to applicants with harvest vessel experience.

Deckhands are responsible for cleaning, sorting, and packing fish, as well as maintaining nets and deck equipment. They also operate packaging machinery and record production data to ensure company standards are met.

Candidates must hold or be willing to obtain a Marine Emergency Duties (MED) certificate and possess a valid passport for international travel. Preference is given to applicants with prior harvest vessel experience.
