MGH’s Intensive Care Unit offers full-service care to meet the needs of the most critically ill individuals in East Toronto. Currently we have an exciting opportunity for an individual who wants to advance their career as a Registered Nurse in ICU. This unique position is for Registered Nurses (RNs) looking to grow in their career and expand their knowledge in a highly supportive environment. Join us in the Intensive Care Unit as an RN seeking to learn more about Critical Care. Michael Garron Hospital is looking for RNs interested to become Critical Care trained; we will support, mentor and help novice nurses build the knowledge, skills and training to work independently in the ICU. With training and ongoing support, you will begin to take on some of the skills of the experienced ICU nurse. This will help to prepare you for a placement in the fully funded Critical Care Nurse training program through an accredited college. Position Overview This unique position is for Registered Nurses (RNs) looking to grow in their career and expand their knowledge in a highly supportive environment. Join us in the Intensive Care Unit as an RN seeking to learn more about Critical Care. Michael Garron Hospital is looking for RNs interested to become Critical Care trained; we will support, mentor and help novice nurses build the knowledge, skills and training to work independently in the ICU. With training and ongoing support, you will begin to take on some of the skills of the experienced ICU nurse. This will help to prepare you for a placement in the fully funded Critical Care Nurse training program through an accredited college. Education Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Critical Care Nursing Certificate from an Accredited College required, or must be willing to complete a Critical Care Nursing Training Program through an Accredited College. Current in BLS. Qualifications One year experience in an acute medical or surgical care unit preferred. Demonstrated ability to care for patients with basic care needs. Demonstrated motivation to pursue educational goals. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to implement plan of care including independent and interdependent nursing functions. Demonstrated ability to participate in unit quality initiatives and measurements. Demonstrated understanding of accountability based practice. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good work and attendance record required. Must be prepared to work in all areas of Medicine Health Service (skills & abilities considered). Exigences

Must be a Registered Nurse with a current CNO certificate and BLS certification. A Critical Care Nursing Certificate is required or the candidate must be willing to complete a training program.
