PLC Technician

About the Role: As a PLC Technician in the durable goods manufacturing sector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that control manufacturing equipment and processes. Minimum Qualifications: * Completion of a recognized technical diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or a related field. * Proven experience working with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing environment. * Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems, and industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profibus. * Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and PLC ladder logic programs. * Valid work authorization to work in Canada. Preferred Qualifications: * Certification from recognized bodies such as the International Society of Automation (ISA) or equivalent. * Experience with specific PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider Electric. * Knowledge of SCADA systems and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) programming. * Familiarity with safety standards and regulations applicable to manufacturing automation. * Experience in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma. Responsibilities: * Install, program, and maintain PLC systems and related automation equipment to support manufacturing operations. * Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in PLC-controlled machinery to minimize production interruptions. * Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on PLC systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement system upgrades, modifications, and process improvements. * Document all maintenance activities, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures accurately for future reference and compliance. Skills: The required skills enable the PLC Technician to effectively program, troubleshoot, and maintain complex automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and high production quality. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential for diagnosing issues quickly and implementing effective solutions.
